Position Summary
The Legal Billing Specialist is responsible for assisting with the pre-bill process, updating budgetary information, electronic invoice submission and other duties related to the monthly submission of billing. The ideal candidate will understand legal billing practices as well as familiarity with a variety of electronic billing platforms.
Primary Responsibilities Include
· Invoicing: The process for creating and submitting a bill for services and related costs to clients / customers. Producing letters and related reports. Also includes the transmission of billing information in various forms (paper, electronic, etc.)
· Research: Troubleshoot the billing process to answer questions related to the billing process. This requires a thorough understanding of the billing process and software.
· Time Management and Organization: Many clients utilize electronic billing platforms with stringent submission guidelines. The Billing Specialist works within a monthly timeframe of deadlines to ensure firm invoices are submitted in a timely manner.
· Communications: This role works with members of the firm’s Little Rock and Rogers offices. It requires good written communication (email) and verbal communication to convey the technical nature of the billing area.
· Attention to Detail: This position works with attorneys and staff members throughout the organization representing several areas of specialty. The ideal candidate can review billing guidelines, review processes and make inquiries to reconcile discrepancies preventing completion of the billing process.
This position requires a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in the legal field or in a similar billing role. This role does involve supervisory responsibilities.
Relevant Education or Experience
· Hands-on clerical/billing experience in a law firm accounting environment; Aderant experience is preferred.
· Must have strong technology skills and particularly strong skills in a service-oriented office environment.
· Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Suite, to include Excel and the ability to prepare ad hoc reports and requests as needed.
· Ability to multitask and prioritize.
· Ability to research and resolve errors or discrepancies, effectively and efficiently.
· Aptitude for working with numbers.
· Ability to organize workflow and use time efficiently.
· Ability to show strong attention to detail, as well as strength in proofreading.
· Ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment and successfully adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
· Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimal direction, follow up on own initiative.
This position is a full time, non-exempt position and may require periodic overtime and flexible schedule in support of case deadlines.
