Friedman Industries has an exciting opportunity for an Outside Sales Representative. The roles and responsibilities associated with the position are designed to maintain and strengthen the customer relationship, generate new sales, and increase current sales with existing customers. Responsibilities include:
- Generate sales opportunities from both new and existing customers
- Obtain new business opportunities for Friedman Industries
- Negotiate sales contract terms and pricing directly with customers
- Act as advocates for our customers and collaborate with other departments to ensure the customer receives the correct product, on time and at the correct cost.
- Support business management directives and decisions.
- Maintain excellent internal and external customer relationships.
- Review and quote spot pricing opportunities with customers
- Negotiate pricing and supply activities with customer
- Manage customer accounts, including new account development
- Follow-up on customer quotations
- Determine and manage inventory needs and buy plans for customer accounts
- Collaboratively work with peers to develop and maximize opportunities
Breakdown of Role
- 50% Sales Management Support – Identify and develop strategies for territory prospects and current customers. Call prospects and customers proactively to investigate new opportunities and solicit orders.
- 40% Customer Support- Support customer accounts by establishing relationships, clarifying needs, managing the process with customers to accurately forecast needs, effectively work with clients in problem/resolution situations, and following up on customer claims and new product inquiries. Daily interaction with Outside Sales. Quoting spot opportunities.
- 5% Order Management- Entering and expedite orders from the field, verify pricing, assuring accuracy of orders and monitoring deliveries.
- 5% Administrative Task - Keep accurate customer/territory records such as forecasts, customer profiles, customer specs, purchase orders, and maintain a daily log of selling activities, price quotes and conversations with customers.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Expectation to manage 24,000 tons a year with a customer base on average of 20-30 accounts
