Friend to Friend’s Mission:
Friend to Friend in a nonprofit, crisis service agency located in Carthage, North Carolina. Our mission is to help survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking rebuild their lives. We operate an advocacy center, an emergency shelter, and a 24/7 crisis-line. Services we offer include shelter, 24-hour-crisis-line, court advocacy, clinical counseling, support groups, hospital accompaniment, community education, and outreach.
This Position:
The Advocate and Development Coordinator possesses professional skills in communication and is experienced in trauma-informed, client-centered response systems when connecting clients with community resources and support. The AC is a part-time, direct service 20-hour-a-week position that reports directly to the Director of Criminal Court, SA and HA. The AC is responsible for supporting the Court Advocates and the clients calling the crisis line. When providing court advocacy, the AC will provide education, information, and advocacy services to individuals who are currently or are considering criminal justice and/or civil court options regarding domestic violence, human trafficking and/or sexual assault. The AC is responsible for answering the crisis line ensuring the agency office and crisis line are always accessible during their shift and provides general office, grant and donation intake support. The AC will support administrative tasks including planning, organizing, recordkeeping and donor database management. The AC will work collaboratively with the Shelter Manager, and the Court Advocates to ensure all shelter clients have access to necessary services from the F2F Advocacy Center and other outside agencies. As needed the AC provides direct services to sexual assault, human trafficking, and domestic violence survivors, including hospital accompaniment, guidance advocacy, and court advocacy.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions for the ADC include but are not limited to:
Provide court advocacy and admin support to the court advocates and agency
- Provides support, as needed, for the Hospital Accompaniment Program, to include scheduling, being point-of-contact in absence of Director of Criminal Court, etc.
- Help residential and non-residential clients filling out protective orders either at AO or SH location, when requested.
- Help provide weekly court accompaniment as needed.
- Help provide follow up and referral outreach and support to court advocate clients.
- Provide information about domestic violence, sexual assault, community resources, court process and related activities to clients, professionals, and members of the public.
- Assist individuals in completing requests for emergency orders of protection, victim compensation, and victim narratives, as needed.
- Maintain and input all donor information into Bloomerang and support executive director with other administrative tasks as needed.
- Prepare and send thank you notes and tax receipt letters to donors
- Support other development tasks as assigned by Executive Director
- Assist in the maintenance of all court client records in Osnium as well as statistical data
MISSION POSITION OVERVIEW DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide victim-centered, trauma-informed advocacy, outreach, and support to victims of interpersonal violence (sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking).
- At the Advocacy Center, answer Serenity House shelter crisis line, as needed.
- At the Advocacy Center, conduct call screenings and intake for Serenity House callers, as needed.
- Support the Director of Court Advocacy with the maintenance of all statistical information pertaining to court advocacy services
- Interact with referral sources to update client resource lists.
- Support the events and fundraising projects and sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking community awareness events, as needed and assigned by Executive Director.
- Provide Safety Planning to all clients, as needed.
- Abide by all policies and procedures within the F2F handbook and staff manual.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with Director of Criminal Court, co-workers, city personnel, faith-based agencies, and public.

Educational and Training Qualifications:
- Possess knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking and how they affect victims.
- Have training in trauma-victim response.
- Have a two or four-year degree in Human Services field and/or related training preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Practicalities:

PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT: Advocacy Office, Carthage, NC
HOURS/SCHEDULE: FULL TIME. 20 hours/week
TRAINING REQUIRED: 20 hours required training prior to engaging clients in any capacity.
COMPENSATION: $16 - $18
