Friend to Friend’s Mission:
Friend to Friend in a nonprofit, crisis service agency located in Carthage, North Carolina. Our mission is to help survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking rebuild their lives. We operate an advocacy center, an emergency shelter, and a 24/7 crisis-line. Services we offer include shelter, 24-hour-crisis-line, court advocacy, clinical counseling, support groups, hospital accompaniment, community education, and outreach.
This Position:
The Client Service Advocate (CSA) is responsible for helping Friend to Friend provide holistic, trauma-informed crisis intervention services and care for victims of interpersonal violence. CSA services include safety planning, shelter placement, referrals to mental health, addiction recovery, vocational support and counseling. The CSA provides client case management and prevention efforts shelter clients. The duties and responsibilities of the CSA will focus on implementing trauma informed responses for victims entering the shelter and legal advocacy program. The CSA will work collaboratively with F2F staff; to help ensure all shelter clients have access to necessary supportive services from the F2F Advocacy Center and community service agencies. The CSA will support the F2F Advocacy Center with data input and statistical reporting support for grant compliance.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions for the CSA include but are not limited to:
- Provide direct services and guidance advocacy to shelter guests.
- Provides holistic, victim-centered, trauma-informed care by working in tandem with the Friend to Friend Advocacy Team.
- Helps connect clients to legal advocacy and battered immigrant project legal services, as needed.
- Answers the crisis hotline and provides intake and exit interviews.
- Responsible for providing monthly advocacy grant reporting to the Director of Operations.
- Attends DV/SA/HT training, annually.
- Helps develop and implement shelter programing for the Serenity House client advocacy programs and provides weekly case management services to Serenity House clients
- Collaborate with and supervises Serenity House volunteers during their shift.
- Offers technical assistance to the agency in statistic and grant reporting.
- Uses the F2Fdatabase to update client data.
- Help keep the Serenity House staff office and bathroom clean and organized.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
- Abides by all policies and procedures within the F2F handbook and staff manual.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Maintain positive working relationships with a diverse set of people in the community.
- Ability to use conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques when clients need support.
- Capacity to adapt and reorder priorities when necessary.
- Ability to set, monitor, and meet goals.
- Ability to use a variety of technology and databases to complete reporting.
- Must exercise a non-judgmental, client-centered approach in working with clients.
- Must have the ability to follow oral and written directions.
Educational and Training Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED required; and
- Experience in human services, victim’s services issues, or related fields preferred.
- Individuals with lived experience are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of domestic violence and human trafficking and how they affect victims.
- CPR training required.
- Valid Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation required.

TRAINING REQUIRED:20 hours on site 20 hours online
COMPENSATION: $15.50/hour
