As we continue to expand, we are seeking an Assistant Financial Controller – Restaurant to support our financial operations, reporting, and internal controls while ensuring compliance and strategic alignment with business objectives. This position reports directly to the Group COO and plays a vital role in enhancing financial transparency, optimizing performance, and strengthening internal financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
· Financial Reporting & Compliance: Assist in analyzing and preparing timely monthly financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
· Accounting Operations Management: Oversee accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), general ledger (GL), and financial reconciliations to maintain financial integrity.
· Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the budgeting and financial forecasting process, identifying key variances and ensuring cost efficiency.
· Auditing Experience: Proven experience in working with external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
· Cash Flow & Treasury Management: Assist in managing cash flow projections, treasury functions, and working capital optimization.
· Internal Controls & Policies: Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to enhance internal controls and mitigate financial risks.
· Regulatory & Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations, assisting in audits and reporting.
· Operational Performance Monitoring: Analyze financial performance across the Restaurant portfolio, identifying key trends, variances, and cost management opportunities.
· Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support: Work closely with department heads and finance teams to align financial strategies with business goals.
· System & Process Improvement: Assist in implementing financial management systems and process enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
· Team Development & Mentorship: Help manage and mentor junior finance staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
· Site Visits & Fieldwork: Participate in fieldwork and site visits as necessary to support Restaurant financial operations.
· Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by senior leadership.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred).
· Experience and Industry Knowledge: A minimum of 3 years of accounting or financial management experience in the restaurant industry is required.
· GAAP & Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance.
· Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with GP software and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including Macros and Financial Modeling.
· IT Knowledge: Basic knowledge of IT is required.
· Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex financial data, identify insights, and provide strategic recommendations.
· Leadership & Communication: Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicate financial insights, and support leadership in decision-making.
· Work Environment & Travel: Must be willing to travel domestically for business needs and conduct site visits as necessary.
· Flexibility: Willingness to work extended hours or weekends as needed to meet business requirements.
