The C.N.A Trainee position requires a passion for people and dedication to providing superior customer service at all times within the Friendly Home. This position may perform duties for which training has been provided and skills have been satisfactory demonstrated. As classroom and clinical skills are accomplished; increased amount of care maybe provided to Members. Upon successful completion of New York State Department of Health 100-hour training program, skills checklist, clinical skills test and written exam, C.N.A Trainee will assume all responsibilities of C.N.A should the Trainee be hired as a C.N.A at Friendly Home.
Essential Job Functions: * All duties will be performs upon receiving the training for the following:
- Provide personal care to assigned Members, per Members’ Care Cards including but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, peri-care.
- Makes beds, keeps Members’ rooms and belongings in order; keeps equipment neat and clean.
- Serves meals trays and assists with feeding as necessary per Members’ Care Cards.
- Passes nourishments to Members designated to received them and records amount consumed.
- Assists Members with range of motion, sitting, standing and walking to maintain mobility.
- Assists and transfers Members to and from bathrooms, on commodes or bedpans; provides care to incontinent Members and provides peri-care.
- Provides arm assist, can assist, standby assist, walker assist, and wheelchair assist as directed on Member Care Card.
- Assist Members using Gait Belt, mechanical lift, one and two-person transfers.
- Reports observations to Clinical Supervisor.
- Records necessary information on worksheets, monitors, and touch screen.
- Participates in in-services education and safety programs as required.
- Performs other program-related duties as directed by the Clinical Supervisor as long as Trainee has received the required training for the duties.

Expectations of the Position:
- Dependable, report to class/clinicals on-time for every schedule shift (ready to work at beginning - start of shift) and work full schedule shifts unless physically unable.
- Willing and able to work schedule as required by the program.
- Have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Must be clean and neat in appearance and maintain a “friendly” service-oriented personality.
- Abide by work-related / job procedures and organization policies; (refer to the Employee Handbook).
- Absence more than once while in the program will result in elimination from the program.
- Tardy more than twice will result in elimination from program.
- Must work full-time for one year unless release by Friendly Home
Qualifications of the Position:
Education: High School degree or GED, required, AAS degree preferred.
Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in a similar communications based position preferred.
Must be “cleared” by CHRC background/fingerprinting checks as required by DOH
Skills:
Good interpersonal skills – written and oral communication skills
Ability to multitask
Strong PC skills
Required to wear uniform per nursing policy (scrubs)
Licenses / Certifications: none
Conditions of Employment:
Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in a similar communications based position preferred.
Must be “cleared” by CHRC background/fingerprinting checks as required by DOH
Skills:

Conditions of Employment:
- Work is performed in a clean, well lit, “Home-Like,” nursing Home setting.
- OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Level 3 positions as indicated in the Exposure Control Plan. Refer to the Exposure Control Plan and to Administration Policy #39 for further details.
- Trainee must be able to perform essential job functions (reasonable accommodation may apply).
