Essential Job Functions
- Patrol premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates
- Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
- Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
- Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
- Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
- Answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours or when switchboard is closed.
- Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, calling 911 if necessary
- Provide escort on campus as requested
- Inspect and adjust security systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering.
- Monitor PERS and Fire Alarm systems
- Responds to all emergencies
- Snow removal as required
- Monitor CCTV system and security cameras
Job Requirements
- Requires ability to relate and be respectful to a wide variety of people and provide superior customer service to all including Residents, co-workers, vendors, family members and visitors.
- Must wear employee badge at all times while on-the-job.
- Must report to work on time and adhere to attendance policy.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding information about Resident, co-workers, vendors, family members and visitors.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Expectations of the Position
- Dependable, report to work on-time for every schedule shift (ready to work at beginning - start of shift) and work full schedule shifts unless physically unable or pre-approved Paid Time Off (PTO) which includes personal and vacation.
- Willing and able to work overtime and weekends as required by the position and/or approved by management.
- Have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Must be clean and neat in appearance and have a “friendly,” hospitality-oriented, and service-oriented demeanor.
- Abide by work-related / job procedures and organization policies; (refer to the Employee Handbook).
Qualifications of the Position
Education: NYS High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in security field. Prior experience in health care preferred.
Skills: Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills.
Licenses / Certifications: Valid NYS State Security Guard License. CPR/AED certification preferred.
Conditions of Employment
Work is performed in a clean, well lit, Community setting.

Must meet the general health requirements set forth by Cloverwood.
May be requested to assist in the evacuation of Residents or perform other procedures to protect the safety of Residents, visitors and team members during emergency situations.
