First Grade Teacher Leave Replacement -Temporary Position
Leave Replacement Term: Mid-January 2025 - May 1, 2025
Work Day Schedule: 7:45 AM - 3:45 PM (standard hours)
FLSA: Full Time Exempt-Per Diem
Supervisor: Lower School Principal

Position Summary:
A dedicated and enthusiastic educator with a passion for fostering a love of learning in young students. An experienced elementary school teacher, skilled in classroom management, differentiated instruction, and promoting social-emotional growth. Committed to collaborating with colleagues and maintaining clear communication with families to support student success during the leave period.

Essential Duties of this position include: Duties may change and others may be assigned
- manage the behavior in a classroom consisting of 8-16 students using the Responsive Classroom (or similar) approach
- knowledge and experience with the Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop model
- knowledge and experience with Singapore math and/or the CPA (concrete, pictorial, abstract) approach to mathematics
- experience with Problem Based Learning
- a strong understanding of how to use formal, informal, summative, and formative assessments to plan lessons and units of study, as well as help students reach their potential
- attend teachers’ meetings, after-school weekly faculty meetings, teacher trainings, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and other meetings that contribute to the life of the school, which may occur after 3:45pm
- uphold the Quaker mission and educational philosophy, and diversity initiatives of the school
Education/Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education (or equivalent / transferable) is required. A Master’s Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education is preferred. At least 3 years of teaching experience (preferably in an independent school) is required. Previous lead teaching experience is preferred.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and must be able to move across the campus. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The ability to move around the campus.

Salary/Hourly Pay Range: $190-$290 per diem. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
