  • Under the direct guidance of the Community Development Specialist, provides assistance and supervision to individuals in the least restrictive treatment model in all programmatic concerns.
  • Assists in delivering services to persons with disabilities as required and recommended in the Person Centered Plan (PCP).
  • Provides personal care as needed: assistance with toileting, dining, bathing, etc.
  • Works cooperatively as a team member, to provide the best possible services to individuals.
  • Dependent on work assignment, provides training, supervision, and assistance to consumers on all facility based and community based contracts/sub-contracts, individual job sites, mobile work crew, enclaves, and volunteer sites, as directed. Designated CDAs provide training and assistance in the woodshop for the manufacturing of survey stakes and need to be able to operate the machines safely and troubleshoot problems as they arise.
  • Completes the required documentation of responses/daily activities to training.
  • Provides training and opportunities for each individual to exercise choice and individual rights in all aspects of their program. Provides assistance in directing consumers to make responsible choices regarding their individual rights in all aspects of their program.
  • Plans and facilitates individual and/or group activities both on site and in the community under the guidance of the CDS.
  • May be assigned to work with individuals across the LEC both on site and in the community depending on the needs of the individual(s).
  • Dependent on work assignment, provides training, supervision and support to individuals at community-based work/volunteer sites as need. Hours may not necessarily coincide with Training Center the LEC hours but will not exceed 40 hours per week.
  • Assume the duties of the Community Development Specialist in their absence, when required.
  • Position may be responsible for driving and/or being an aide on a van/bus, transporting consumers to/from Day/Vocational Program(s).
  • If needed, transports individuals to all off-site activities including to outings, contract work assignments, etc.
  • Serves as an adult/peer model for normative interpersonal relations and foster an atmosphere of self-reliance, cooperation and respect.
  • Performs all aspects of medication administration and documentation, as directed.
  • Displays sound judgment in exercising responsibility for the safety and well-being of all persons served; maintains a safe working environment at all times including the use of personal protective equipment when needed. Reports all health and/or safety related incidents in accordance with P&P and state regulations.
  • Ensures that consumers have access to appropriate protective and cleaning supplies by assessing facility based and community based material needs.
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date records of employees production information including time studies, as needed and required.
  • Maintains confidentially in all matters related to the individual programs and personal circumstances.
  • Actively participates in staff meetings and attends all mandatory agency and DDA staff training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

HS diploma or G.E.D.

Preference given to those with experience in the field of developmental disabilities

  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use software applications within agency-designated timeframe.
  • Ability to receive and maintain certification as a Certified Medication Technician (CMT), when required.
  • Ability to receive DOT certification.
  • Must possess typing skills sufficient to be productive.
  • Valid drivers license with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience and an agency approved driving record.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
