Finance Director Job Description:
Friends Center for Children (the “Organization”) is an early childhood education center providing high-quality, full-time year-round care for children ages 3 months to 5 years. We offer a child-centered, hands-on learning experience in a safe and nurturing environment. The Finance Director Reports directly to the Executive Director of the Organization. The Finance Director serves on the School’s Management Team, works closely with the School’s administration, and is responsible for providing sound, effective fiscal management regarding all financial matters in order to advance the School’s mission. This includes the implementation and tracking of approved budgets and the oversight of all accounts receivable and payable.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Direct the budget process, prepare the annual budget, and work with the Executive Director and the Finance Committee to finalize, present, track, and adjust annual budgets
- Support the development and implementation of strategic budget models for future years that demonstrate sustainability
- Provide the Executive Director and Finance Committee with the data necessary to develop financial models for capital campaigns and construction projects
- Coordinate the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors
- Complete and file all required taxes in partnership with the auditor
- Prepare, review, and disseminate relevant financial statements monthly
- Monitor and allocate restricted and unrestricted fund balances monthly
- Oversee general accounting for all the Organization’s internal and external funds and various debt obligations
- Oversee cash management including monthly reconciliations
- Input daily billing data into QuickBooks for accurate and timely financial record-keeping
- With the Human Resource Department:
- In coordination with PAYCHEX, prepare (bi-weekly) payroll process
- Oversee benefits administration including health insurance, supplemental insurance, and 403b plan
- Support the Admissions Department with:
- Input of tuition data into QuickBooks for financial record-keeping
- Supporting the School’s Financial Aid Committee with materials for financial aid decisions
- Developing and maintaining forecasting and planning models for enrollment tuition, and financial aid
Requirements:
- Working knowledge of and experience with Quickbooks
- Minimum of 5 years experience working in a human service environment
- Minimum of 5 years experience working in for-profit or non-profit business
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Interest in the mission and vision of Friends Center, including Quaker values
- Self-motivated, proactive, resourceful and creative problem solver
- Friendly, detail-oriented, and professional with strong time management skills
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $90,000-$125,000
- Employee child tuition discount: The Organization offers care to employee children. Every effort will be made to ensure employee placements as soon as possible. Full-time employees who have children enrolled in the Organization and who are in good standing are eligible to receive a discount up to $22,000 on their tuition. The tuition discount is determined based on the amount of the tuition contract.
- Health Insurance: FCfC will contribute 80% of the equivalent of a standard HMO individual coverage cost through our provider for our group health insurance program.
