Independent LIving Coordinator-Abilene office

Friends for Life provides support systems and services to empower seniors and people with disabilities to live their best lives as independently as possible. This position will work with volunteers and other community partners towards this goal.

Responsibilities:

· Outreach to community organizations and churches to identify home-bound seniors or seniors without local support systems that we might help

· Outreach to home-bound seniors or seniors without local support systems to educate about available services

· Conduct in person assessments utilizing BetterAging survey along with current survey to identify current and potential needs

· Make referrals for services currently provided by community partners

· Coordinate with community organizations to develop programs to address identified unmet needs

· Recruit volunteers to provide needed services, including but not limited to transportation, telephone reassurance, friendly visits, shopping etc

· Work with local colleges to provide interns to assist in assessment/re-assessment process.

· Maintain database software to collect all services provided to clients

· Maintain volunteer hours in database software.

· Assist Quality of Life Coordinator as needed with Christmas/birthday gift program.

· Other duties as needed

Education and Experience Preferred:

· Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

· High School Diploma (required)

· Experience in working with seniors and/or people with disabilities (preferred)

· Experience in recruiting and working with volunteers (preferred)

Credentials Required:

Must pass all required background checks

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 per year
