Position Type: Part-time 8-10 hours a week

The Program Assistant position will support social recreation programs for individuals with diverse needs. This role is Part-Time and requires availability on weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, promote, facilitate, and supervise engaging social recreation programs that make a difference! Lead and/or support program and class instruction.
- Prepare client files. Prepare and update sign-in sheets for participants and volunteers, and ensure attendance sign-in and sign-out. Record observations on client progress in programs. Provide program updates to the Program supervisor.
- Communicate with families and volunteers, keeping them informed about current and upcoming programs and events, and addressing any questions they may have.
- Recruit and motivate volunteers, track and record hours, and recognize their contributions.
- Prepare rooms and materials, assist with clean-up for each program, and maintain a safe, positive environment for all.
- Connect with participants, create an encouraging atmosphere, and support individual needs with care and patience.
- Provide support when there are individual behaviors, as needed, and notify the parent and the program supervisor for additional assistance when necessary.
- Take photos and videos of programs, helping document memorable moments.
- Prepare feedback surveys and share program updates to continuously improve experiences.
- Help with special events like the Talent Show, Drama Camp, Music Camp, and other events and projects as needed. Support the Outreach program, including events like the Resource Festival.
Additional Responsibilities based on Part-Time Availability
- Prepare and manage program registrations, enrollment lists, monthly client billing, and program schedule.
- Create and distribute eye-catching flyers and weekly program updates.
- Regularly refresh the Social Recreation and Enrichment program website with the latest information.
- Work closely with Administration and Accounting to support program operations.
Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma.
- Experience working with individuals with diverse needs is preferred. A background in Special Education, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field is a plus.
- Must be available on Saturdays and/or Sundays to support our weekend programs and special events, including the Talent Show, Drama Camp, Music Camp, and Resource Festival.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail.
- Reliable, quick learner with a flexible and patient approach to new challenges.
- Collaborative team player with effective communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Forms) is required; experience with Canva is a plus.
- Fluent in English; bilingual abilities are a plus, but not required.
- Must be able to travel to various community locations in Fremont.
