Position: Food Service Coordinator
Reports To: Executive Director
Qualifications: 5 years in food service management at a casual or quick service restaurants, or bachelors degree in hospitality, business or relevant field. Three years experience including shift management and a current Servsafe Manager food service certification is required. The ability to work independently and manage time effectively, to build relationships through training, communication, and customer service are necessary for this position. A valid driver license is required and must be maintained for this position.
Function:
- Along with the Executive Director, implement the plan for achieving the mission, vision, strategy, annual goals and objectives of Friends of Night People.
- With the Executive Director, enable the Friends of Night People staff and volunteers to fulfill their goals and tasks through support, motivation, and recognition.
- Oversee the set-up, operations, and service of assigned meal service programs with Friends of Night People staff and volunteers at different sites in the City of Buffalo throughout each workday.
Responsibilities to the Executive Director:
- Keep the Executive Director fully informed on the condition of the organization's assets. Communicate all performance/relationship/attendance/pertinent matters among guests/volunteers/staff/partnership organizations and their needs to the Executive Director in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities to Organization Personnel and Programs:
- Ensure the organization’s mission, vision, and values are pertinent and practiced throughout the organization.
- Assume responsibility for the organization’s consistent achievement of the mission to feed and provide essential services to people experiencing homelessness and poverty.
- Build strong relationships with staff, volunteers, and guests. Work with staff and volunteers to achieve daily goals, and motivate and incentivize these groups to increase our brands effectiveness and efficiency.
- Assist in the hiring and administration of an effective team with the highest potential for success.
- Assist in the development and implementation of in-service training and staff development opportunities.
- Ensure adherence to all major policies and procedures.
- Assist in the utilization and supervision of agency resources and personnel to develop to assure safe and ethical practices are maintained.
- Evaluates services and meets with clients and community partners to ensure that the needs of the community are being met. Solicits feedback on current programs and makes recommendations with regard to expanding/developing new programs as the need arises.
- Report current progress of program elements and status of staff activities within assigned areas to the Executive Director via a weekly operating report.
Responsibility to Community:
- Maintains active involvement in delivery and access of services.. Responsible to address and prevent concerns or issues that affect agency staff or community stakeholders, and to respond to issues identified to or by the organization.
- Maintains continual analysis and evaluation of assigned programs and activities; assures the gathering of appropriate and required statistics.
- Develop and maintain liaison with other community partners and like-minded organizations whose goal is to reduce hunger and homelessness through visits, meetings, or email as appropriate.
Additional Required Qualifications:
· Proven food service and kitchen management experience, with responsibilities including food preparation and service, ordering, and sanitation.
· Solid leadership skills with high professional ethics and sound judgment
· Strong verbal communication skills
· Basic computer skills
· Ability to adapt and be flexible to changing priorities
· Capable of working under pressure, managing numerous activities simultaneously and meeting deadlines consistently
· Experience working with volunteers
· Ability to lift and carry up to 35lbs multiple times during a shift
· Valid NYS driver license
· Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary,
· Ability to use commercial food service equipment and chemicals
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time preparing and serving food
· Ability to walk, push, and pull carts stocked with food, donations, and containers.
