What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Event Coordinator position at Friends of the Animal Center Foundation?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
FACF’s mission is to support and expand animal care services at the Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center (ICAC). This position is responsible for assisting the Executive Director and Volunteer Coordinator with administrative and event coordination duties.
The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of events
- Coordinating logistics such as venue booking, catering, and audiovisual setups
- Collaborating with vendors, sponsors, and donors to ensure event success
- Managing event registrations, attendance tracking, and participant communication
- Providing on-site support during events, including setup, registration, and troubleshooting
- Creating event marketing materials and promoting events through various channels
- Conducting post-event evaluations and reporting to assess event effectiveness
- Maintaining event databases, files, and records for future reference
- Supporting the development of event budgets and tracking expenses
- Assisting with other administrative tasks as needed to support the FACF & ICAC teams
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures for both FACF and ICAC
- Positively represents FACF and ICAC’s in the community
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Canva, Adobe, Google Drive
- Familiar with CRM platforms preferred
- Website design experience preferred
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
- 1 year or more experience coordinating events and as an administrative assistant preferred
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must be able to meet regular attendance requirements and work occasional evenings or weekends

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour

- Are you able to work 8-10 hour days during our big events? We have two very intense events each year that require a minimum of 8 hours, typically 12 hours for our full time staff.
- Will a flexible work schedule work for you? There are some weeks that are less busy and some weeks that will require 25 hours. While the schedule is flexible, attendance at FACF events is not flexible for this position.
