Lighting Director for The Bing Crosby Theater :

The Lighting Director is responsible for working with all clients to provide a professional, engaging, and entertaining lighting element to their show. You must be able to both work directly with the client to follow their lighting cues during a program and be able to create a light presentation with very little or no input from the client. The Bing Crosby Theater is a rental venue, and our clients range from local author presentations to dance companies, live theater, rock shows, jazz shows, and film.

This position requires the following skills :

  • Knowledge of venue power distribution, lighting control systems, lighting hardware, equipment.
  • Proficiency in operating a Road Hog 4 lighting console.
  • Experience reading Lighting Plots, Patch Lists, Stage Plots, and associated paperwork.
  • The ability to work within the confines of a production schedule and meet deadlines.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as an LD at comparable live music venue(s) is preferred.

As a part of the Bing Tech Team, you will be required to help unload trucks, set up staging, set pieces, risers, musical equipment, chairs, and any other needs of production. You will be required to be present from load-in to load-out for all events. Evenings, weekends, and holidays will be required. This position is on an as-needed basis and there is no guarantee of hours. Schedule may include daytime, evening, and weekend hours. Shifts will range from 4-14 hours.

Responsibilities :

  • Operate and oversee all lighting needs for events including but not limited to spot lighting, haze, and working with touring lighting directors.
  • Clean, repair, and maintain theatrical spaces, tools, and all lighting equipment.
  • Responsible for safe and consistent operation of all lighting equipment.
  • Assist with the technical advances with Artist’s representatives as needed.
  • Ensure proper care and handling of all company equipment.
  • Interact with visiting production crews to ensure a successful show.
  • Distribute or create lighting plot plans.
  • Manually focus stage lights and gel lights as required.
  • Education, Experience & Other Requirements :

  • Experience operating the Road Hog 4 lighting board.
  • Required to be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and be able to work at heights above 10 feet on ladders, must be willing to work in confined spaces, and be able to climb stairs.
  • Ability to work under pressure while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Proven work ethic in a team environment.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, reach and be on your feet for several hours while working at a fast pace.
  • Ensures the highest possible standards of guest satisfaction and Team Member relations are maintained and carried out in a fair and equitable manner in an environment conducive to a successful event every time.
  • Must possess superior interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  • Work in an environment with moderate to loud noise level, extreme lighting changes, strobes & moving light.

    Pay : From $20.00 per hour
