What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Sports Lead position at Friends School Mullica Hill?
Friends School Mullica Hill, a Pre-K to Grade 8 Quaker day school, seeks a Summer Camp Sports Coordinator. This is a seasonal position that is part-time in the winter and spring and full-time during the summer camp season. This roll is perfect for young professionals or older college students with an interest in Physical Education, youth sports coaching, or working with kids in sports in general.
Friends School Summer Camp is an eight-week program (June 16-August 8, 2025) with approximately 100 campers each week and a staff of 20.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversees camp sports activities.(Large and small)
- Responsible for six(6) forty-five minute activity periods each day.
- Manages and maintains camp sports activity inventory.
- Identifies all needed activity materials before the start of camp.
- Prepares a week's materials the week before.
- Gathers and distributes all activity materials and instructions on the day of the activity.
- Ensures anyone delivering camp sports activities is prepped and prepared to do so.
- Multiple Small activities per age group per day. Small activities are completed by small groups of students and include, but are not limited to sports games, camp games, and/or team building exercises. These can be indoors, in a gymnasium, or outdoors.
- Large activities are completed by the entire camp together or multiple groups and include games such as capture the flag. These can be indoors, in a gymnasium, or outdoors.
- Large group activities occur once a week, at minimum, on Thursday mornings camp game
- Providing general support to, and working directly with, the Camp Director.
- Overseeing camp sports activities during the camp season
The Ideal Candidate will:
- Have relevant experience in a school and/or camp setting.
- Be physically fit, interested in sports and ready to play and motivate kids to do the same.
- Have a collaborative leadership style and work closely with the administrative team and camp counselors.
- Be an effective communicator who plans well, takes initiative, follows through with objectives, and effectively manages multiple responsibilities.
- Have a passion for working with children and adolescents and an understanding of developmental needs.
- Have an appreciation for working in a small Quaker school with a diverse population
- Complete all required background checks and satisfy all safety requirements for working in a school and camp setting
