What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundskeeper position at Friendship Botanic Gardens?
The Groundskeeper is an essential member of the Gardens. The primary responsibility is to care for the lawns and plant life. This position reports to the Director and works in tandem with the Botany Committee. This position is not exempt from FLSA. The Gardens reserves the right to change job duties at any time. This job description is not designed to cover every job requirement.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain lawns
- Mulch
- Clear trails
- Operate hand mowers, riding mowers, weed whackers, and leaf blowers
- Branch and tree clean up
- Daily trash removal site-wide
- Assist in table and chair set-ups throughout the site
- Some small engine maintenance and repair
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Weed
- Prune
- Water lawns around gardens
- Skim water features in assigned gardens
- · Fertilize lawns
- · Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- One year’s experience in groundskeeping preferred
- Knowledge of ground equipment and turf management preferred
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must be able to follow directions and work independently
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds
- Must be organized and manage time well
- Able to work outdoors in all weather
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Evenings as needed
- Holidays
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
