Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified teacher to join our team at Friendship Central School District. As a certified social studies and special education teacher, you will be responsible for teaching grades 7-12.
About the Position:
- This is a full-time position with a start date of August 26, 2025.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching social studies and working with students with disabilities.
- You will be responsible for developing and implementing effective instructional programs to meet the needs of students with varying intellectual abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds.
- You will also be responsible for serving as a special education case manager for students assigned to your care.
Responsibilities:
- Teach social studies and history courses to grades 7-12.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers, special educators, families, community members, and administrators to implement each student's IEP.
- Evaluate each student's development in course being taught and prepare progress reports.
- Maintain professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents and school counselors to discuss the individual pupil's progress.
- Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs.
- Perform basic attendance accounting and business services as required.
- Shares in the sponsorship of pupil activities such as student government and participates in faculty committees.
- Any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent and/or Administration.
Requirements:
- Certification or ability to obtain certification in special education and social studies.
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
- Experience working with students with disabilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents and school staff.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
