Duties
As a Direct Support Professional, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Providing medication administration as required and ensuring adherence to resident rights.
- Supporting individuals with meal preparation and cooking nutritious meals that cater to dietary needs.
- Engaging residents in social activities and promoting community involvement to enhance social skills.
- Implementing care plans tailored to each resident's unique needs, including those with dementia or requiring long-term care.
- Maintaining a clean and safe living environment for all residents.
- Monitoring and documenting residents' progress and any changes in behavior or health status.
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care.
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or memory care settings is preferred, but will train the right candidates.
- Knowledge of first aid procedures and basic healthcare practices.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and resident rights.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on social work principles to effectively communicate with residents and their families.
- A caring attitude towards individuals with diverse needs, particularly those experiencing dementia or cognitive challenges.
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization within the living environment while supporting residents' independence.
