Reports To: Assistant Director 

Classification: Regular Full-Time (Exempt) 

Location: 1436 U St NW, Washington DC

Hours: Flexible schedule (Monday-Friday)  

some evenings, holidays, and weekends may be required to support operations and to respond to emergencies.

Summary: 

 This position supervises the Housing Navigators in providing homeless prevention and services to low-income Veterans. The Project Coordinator will conduct in-office caseload supervision and field supervision to ensure that best practices are being used and Housing Navigators are exhibiting participant-centeredness as well as adhering to program guidelines, policies, and procedures. The Project Coordinator will work to empower low-income Veterans in DC, Arlington, Alexandria, Loudoun, Prince William, Fairfax, Montgomery, Frederick, and Prince George’s counties.


Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Housing Navigators in field supervision, in-office case review supervision, and check-ins
  • Decision-making authority regarding spending grant funds and implementation of policy and procedures
  • Provide Quality Assurance and monitoring of grants and budgets
  • Develop, review, and update policy and procedure manual as needed and implement policy and procedures among staff
  • Develop and manage goals, staff development, and timekeeping of all direct report staff
  • Ensure that best practices and participant-centeredness are utilized by direct report staff at all times
  • Distribute VA satisfaction surveys to participants within 30 days of exit
  • Monitor participants’ paper and electronic files for eligibility documents and completeness
  • Monitor HMIS data quality
  • Foster empowerment and a team environment in offices
  • Promote self-care and growth amongst frontline staff
  • Collaborate with external agencies providing services to participants, including community agencies, government agencies, and the VA
  • Maintain data and collect statistics on Excel documents for tracking purposes
  • Assist with new staff development
  • Complete and receive HUD-VASH Referrals as needed
  • Attend CoC Meetings and Veteran specific workgroup Meetings
  • Provide support to CoCs with maintaining a coordinated entry system
  • Provide program services directly to a smaller caseload when needed
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and regular supervision.
  • Demonstrate empathy and flexibility in responding to participants’ needs and requests.
  • Attend professional trainings and conferences as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Background & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in a similar setting preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certificate or able to obtain within 30 days.
  • Understanding and/or experience working with Veterans
  • Experience with HMIS data entry is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Strong clinical skills and crisis management skills 
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment
  • Ability to work well under pressure 
  • Ability to work as a team player

 

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

At least 50% of the time will be spent in an office setting, must be able to sit and work at a computer for prolonged periods, up to 50% will be spent working in the field with supervising case managers, working with participants attending community events and attending CoC meetings.


Background Checks:

Will be required to complete and pass background checks specific to contract requirements that may include: criminal history background check and/or fingerprinting, FBI Background Check, DC Metropolitan Police Background Check, State-of-Residence Police Background Check, DC Child Abuse Registry (CFSA), National Sex Offender Registry Check, Drug Panel and Alcohol Screening, Tuberculosis Screen, and Driving Record check.

Specific Requirements

The employee must have a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to carry out job duties and responsibilities. The vehicle must meet legal requirements (insured, registered, etc).

  • Application Deadline: This job is open until filled, or the hiring manager determines they can no longer accept applications.
  • Compensation: The hiring pay range is between $63,145.00 - $69,000.00 annually. The starting annual salary is based on a step system. A candidate’s starting pay determination is based on meeting the basic position requirements and having completed education, credentials, and/or work experience. Please Note: The step system is set and not open to pay negotiation.
