What are the responsibilities and job description for the HS Core Classroom Teacher / Student Services Specialist position at Friona ISD?
Primary Purpose:
This position will be a Dual Asssignment of a core teacher and part time student services specialist. The student services portion will consist of assisting students to fully develop each student’s academic, career, personal, and social abilities and address the needs of special population students. Implement state and federally mandated student assessment programs for the campus. Ensure security and integrity of testing materials and data in accordance with state and federal requirements. The other portion of the dual assignment will be teaching 3-4 core classes.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree or in the process of obtaining
Teaching Certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students, parents, and campus staff
Knowledge of the state testing program and accountability system
Ability to use student test data systems
Ability to perform statistical analysis
Ability to use personal computer and software programs to collect, report, and present data and test-related information
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Guide individual students, groups of students, and parents to plan, monitor, and manage the student’s own educational and career development including creating and reviewing personal graduation plans and providing information about post-secondary opportunities.
- Coordinate school, home, and community resources and refer students, parent, and others to special programs and services as needed.
- Work collaboratively to advocate for individual students and specific groups of students.
- Interpret standardized test results and assessment data to guide students in individual goal setting and planning.
- Program Management and Administration
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations
- Develop and implement procedures for ensuring security and confidentiality of state-mandated testing programs and other assessments. Direct and oversee test implementation and monitor testing activities to ensure that procedures are followed and deadlines met.
- Provide timely support for testing administrators.
- Develop and distribute statistical studies, analysis, and evaluation reports as required.
- Work with instructional teams to analyze test data and develop student achievement goals and objectives.
- Compile, maintain, file, and secure all reports, records, and other required documents.
- Develop and deliver training for campus test administrators to ensure that tests are conducted and procedures are consistently followed.
- Organize logistics for scheduling and conducting all testing in the campus including staffing, distribution, and security.
