Responsibilities
Frisco In Focus is a private optometry practice seeking a professional and dedicated Optometric Technician to join our team. The primary function of this role is to ensure the efficient and effective daily flow of patients, by assisting with optometric pretesting and frame-styling in the optical.
Your basic optometric and optical assistant duties will include:
· Greeting patients and explaining procedures to reduce anxieties and increase patient cooperation.
· Spending time (approximately 10-15 minutes) with each patient before the doctor enters, guiding patients through the pretesting equipment, collecting patient history and chief complaint and accurately entering that data into the electronic health record software.
· Performing testing such as corneal topography, autorefractor/autokeratometer, computerized tear break up time, Maestro anterior/posterior segment photography and macular and optic nerve head OCTs, and peripheral visual fields via a virtual reality visual field analyzer
· Inputting patient information and exam findings into our Revolution EHR software to facilitate accurate record-keeping and scribing for the doctor during the exam if needed.
· Measuring the prescription in the patient’s current glasses using an automated lensometer.
· Instructing patients on contact lens insertion & removal and lens care guidelines.
· Filing insurance for exams and contact lens visits on your doctor's schedule
· Pulling medical and vision insurance benefits for scheduled patients two days before patient encounter; properly determining copays, coinsurance, and deductibles at time of services; and collecting payment as needed
· Maintaining cleanliness of test equipment and exam rooms.
· Performing opening and closing duties related to the exam lanes and office.
· Representing our practice in a professional, caring, and welcoming manner
· Frame-styling patients after their exam to help them pick SPEC-tacular eyewear and taking basic measurements needed to fill the glasses Rx--a great opportunity to grow in your OPTICAL skills

Experience Preferred but will train a motivated person:
Prior experience as an optometric or optical technician is a plus. Starting pay is based on your experience and proficiency with our current technologies and health record system. For those who possess a great attitude, a helpful heart, and a love of learning, we will be happy to speak with you!
