The Packaging Machine Operator is a vital role in our manufacturing process, responsible for setting up and operating assigned packaging machines and statistical scales to pack the optimum number of quality packages of product. Frito-Lay has been making the very best snacks for over 80 years.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate multiple packaging machines to ensure accurate code dates, weights, and products are put into appropriate bags.
- Check that products are dated and sealed with a minimum amount of wasted product and supplies.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, prioritizing safety at all times.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on packaging machines, including cleaning or switching out knives and blades, pull-belts, tape machines, or rollers as needed.
- Troubleshoot commonplace problems and make operational adjustments to keep production running smoothly.
Work Environment
Packaging Machine Operators work in large manufacturing facilities, often near heavy machinery in a loud environment. Frito-Lay plants are also subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations, which may impact indoor warehouse working conditions.
Requirements
- You must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- You will be required to work on some weekends, holidays, and off-shifts.
- Previous machine operator experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment is a plus.
- This is a physically demanding job, requiring you to lift 50 lbs from floor to waist, stand and walk for extended periods, and climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and stretch regularly.
- You must have basic math skills and be able to read and write in English.
