What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packer/Food Safety Tech - 3rd Shift position at Frito-Lay North America?
We're seeking inclusive and committed Packers/Food Safety Techs to join Frito-Lay, where you will be responsible for constructing boxes and packing them full of products you already know and love. Although you will start with Frito-Lay, this job can open the door to career opportunities with our parent company, PepsiCo.
We are open 24 hours a day, which means you may not have a typical schedule. As a Full-Time Packer/Food Safety Tech, you would work between 40-50 hours per week and be eligible to receive full benefits including health insurance, dental and vision, retirement benefits including 401(k) with company contribution, plus more.
It's a physical job! While all are welcome to apply, understand that you will be on your feet the entirety of your shift. Packers/Food Safety Techs are expected to stay on the line until relieved for break. We're seeking individuals who are flexible, committed, and safety-focused.
Because this role is a multi-role position, there are multiple different jobs included in one with varying pay rates.
Here are some of the tasks that you could expect to perform during the workday as a Packer or TPU (Packaging Utility)...
- Construct boxes to pack them manually while maintaining an effective pace or with the help of automated machines
- Support repacking cases rejected from automated machines and maintain housekeeping/other sanitation tasks
- Perform regular quality checks at required frequency
- Responsible for conducting both dry wipes and wet wash changeovers on manufacturing equipment
- Quickly clear case jams on automated equipment to keep lines running and palletize cases on the floor
Here are some of the tasks that you could expect to perform during the workday as a Food Safety Tech (FST)...
- Lead and execute the changeover process to ensure cleanliness and compliance
- Take ownership of Product Safety Management (PSM) inspections to ensure compliance and be able to perform seasoning accumulation checks/clean equipment as necessary
- Monitor product flow to ensure food safety and quality by staying vigilant and proactive in identifying any potential food safety risks or quality issues
- Bend, crouch, and work in very tight spaces to clean machinery effectively for extended periods of time in high temperatures
Some of the preferred qualifications include:
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing or packaging environment is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety
- Ability to work effectively and take initiative both independently and as part of a team
