Job Description

Job Title : Staff Registered Nurse

Job Specialty : Observation Unit

Job Duration : 13 Weeks

Shift : 12-hour days, float as needed, every other weekend

Guaranteed Hours : 36.00

Experience : Required clinical competence and experience in care and management specific to area of employment.

License : Current state Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact.

Certifications : American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an equivalent; required within 90 days of hire.

Must-Have :

  • BSN or nursing diploma.
  • Upon hire, any non-BSN nurse with less than one year of licensed experience must enroll in a BSN or higher nursing degree program within a specified timeframe.

Job Description :

  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for identified patients in an inpatient environment.
  • Demonstrates competency in delivery of care primarily to an adult population.
  • Collects and analyzes comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health and / or situation.
  • Determines diagnoses or issues based on assessment data.
  • Identifies expected outcomes for a patient-specific plan.
  • Develops strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implements the identified plan and evaluates progress toward outcomes.
  • Attains knowledge and competence reflecting current nursing practice.
  • Engages in educational activities related to relevant knowledge bases and professional issues.
  • Demonstrates commitment to lifelong learning and identifies learning needs.
  • Participates in consultations to address nursing practice issues.
  • Shares educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers.
  • Contributes to a conducive work environment for healthcare professionals' education.
  • Acquires knowledge and skills pertinent to specialty area, practice setting, role, or situation.
  • Integrates evidence and research findings into practice.
  • Utilizes current evidence-based nursing knowledge to guide practice and initiate changes.
  • Engages in evidence-based practice formulation through research.
  • Contributes to quality nursing practice by using creativity and innovation in nursing practice.
  • Identifies important practice aspects for quality monitoring.
  • Utilizes benchmarks for monitoring quality, safety, and effectiveness.
  • Uses the PDSA model to enhance the quality of nursing practice and outcomes.
  • Participates in and / or leads interprofessional teams evaluating clinical care or health services.
  • Engages in efforts to minimize costs and reduce unnecessary duplication.
  • Identifies and corrects process inefficiencies in day-to-day work routines.
  • Consistently demonstrates key behaviors during hourly rounding.
