Full-Time / Monday thru Friday / AM Shift

80K - 88K Annually

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Dining Services, Administrator, or Executive Director, the Registered Dietitian assists with the coordination of skilled nursing and assisted living dining services by monitoring resident diets by performing the following functions. Works as a team with the Vice President of Nutrition and Dining Services and Manager of Nutrition and Dining Services to ensure modified diets are followed, appropriate care center in services are completed, sanitation audits of the kitchen are completed and medical records charting meets Department of Health Services requirements by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Provides quality Customer Service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers and vendors in a manner to ensure satisfaction.
  • Interviews new residents on food likes, dislikes and any possible allergies.
  • Reviews residents charts to verify any special diet that has been ordered or any possible medical contraindications with diet / food served.
  • Works in conjunction with Care Center staff to ensure that residents’ diets and health needs have been addressed and satisfied.
  • Attends Care Plan meetings to discuss resident’s progress, health concerns, etc.
  • Ensures that basic diet conforms to dietary essentials.
  • Establishes portion sizes. Makes adjustment in quantity or content of meals, in accordance with the nutritional requirements of each resident.
  • May hire, train, evaluate and discipline Registered Dietetic Technicians, Dietetic Supervisors and / or Diet Coordinators, Diet Aids, and keeps Director of Dining Services informed as needed regarding personnel issues.
  • Instructs the above personnel in foods to be served to residents on therapeutic diets.
  • Supervises preparation and service of food to residents, guests, and / or special events.
  • Ensures weight variances meetings are held on a weekly basis.
  • Follows highest standards of cleanliness. Follows all federal, state and corporate policies, health codes and guidelines in preparation and handling of foodstuffs.
  • Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner. Wears safety equipment as required for the job. Reports any safety hazards and / or accidents to supervisor.
  • Ensures & follows department safety standards, practice correct body mechanic techniques and participate in campus-wide safety programs.
  • Attends all mandatory in-service meetings. Complies with all department and facilities policies and procedures.
  • Understand facility’s fire and disaster plans; follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies.
  • May have some supervisory responsibilities including supervising employees in the Care Center dining department, interviewing, hiring, training, counseling and terminating employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

JOB REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and / or abilities required.   • Must be a RD, Bachelor’s degree at a U.S. regionally accredited university or college and course work approved by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). Complete a CDR-accredited supervised internship program. Undergraduate degree in Foods & Nutrition, and registration through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Must have at least 1-year experience as a clinical dietitian. Long term care experience preferred. Must have ServSafe or equivalent certification.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before employees of the organization and groups of residents.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, as well as tube feeding rates and calorie counts; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Must be a Registered Dietitian and a member in good standing with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

    Salary : $80,000 - $88,000
