Veterinary Vet technician/Assistant

Front Porch Veterinary Clinic in Lumberton, NC is looking for a Veterinary Technician or Assistant to join our team! We are a 2-doctor AAHA Accredited practice. The position will consist of a five-day work week with rotating weekends.

We strive to foster positive experiences for our clients and patients while providing quality care. Our staff is dedicated to educating clients and promoting wellness and preventative care. Services we offer include wellness, emergency & urgent care, surgery, laser therapy, diagnostics with an in-house lab, grooming, and boarding/daycare services.

Responsibilities/Qualifications

Candidates are required to have

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
• Ability to move or lift merchandise, equipment or pets weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, bend or stoop for extended periods of time.
• Candidates must pass the drug screening (in applicable states) and be 18 years or older.
• Other duties as assigned.

Duties- Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals- Perform various diagnostic tests and procedures under the supervision of a veterinarian- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian- Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures- Take X-rays of animals- Collect and analyze laboratory samples- Perform dental cleanings and extractions- Provide post-operative care and monitor the recovery of animals- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and treatment

Experience- Prior experience preferred but not required -- Opportunity to train on the job

- Must be comfortable handling cats and dogs
