PURPOSE:
The Lab Assistant will work under the supervision of laboratory staff or researchers to assist in the smooth functioning of laboratory operations. This role involves a combination of technical and administrative tasks to support ongoing laboratory activities and required documentation. Additionally, the Lab Assistant will provide crucial support for clinical trial kitting activities and sample receipt.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sample Preparation:
- Prepare and organize samples for experimentation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols.
Inventory Management:
- Maintain an organized inventory of laboratory supplies, chemicals, and equipment. Assist in ordering and restocking as necessary.
Lab Safety:
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines. Ensure a clean and safe working environment. Dispose of hazardous materials according to established procedures.
Clinical Trial Kitting Support:
- Participate in the assembly and preparation of clinical trial kits, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation. Collaborate with the project management team and lab leadership team to meet project timelines.
- Creation of custom reagent kits
Sample Receipt Support:
- Receive, log, and process incoming samples. Ensure proper documentation and storage of samples following established procedures.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Work closely with project management, laboratory leaders and technologists, and sample management
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant coursework in science or laboratory techniques is a plus. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting is desirable.
- Basic knowledge of scientific principles and laboratory procedures.
- Experience with clinical trial kitting and sample receipt processes is an advantage.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow protocols and maintain accurate records.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
