Experience with robotic liquid handling, magnetic particle processors, multi-drops, plate washers, plate readers (fluorescence, luminescence, absorbance, electrochemiluminescence), electrophoresis, microfluidics, conventional and real-time thermal cyclers, as applied to medium to high throughput screening, would be helpful. The assays we rely on most to answer clients’ biological questions include ELISA, MSD, Flow Cytometry, RNA extraction for gene expression, and enzyme activity. An understanding of how these assays work, the data the abovementioned technologies deliver, and how to troubleshoot a variety of issues will be critical to success. You will work with an interdisciplinary team of DMPK scientists, pharmacologists, and analytical chemists dedicated to delivering accurate data in support of early-phase drug discovery projects. This is a lab-based position that will require flexibility, efficiency, creativity, a collaborative spirit, and “can-do” attitude.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design and implement instrument protocols for various automated liquid handlers according to client needs and in collaboration with scientists and research associates.
- Review aberrant data with colleagues to help identify issues that may be addressed by changes to instrumentation.
- Troubleshoot instrument errors.
- Coordinate service requests with vendors if instrument failure persists.
- Maintain lab equipment (including freezers) in good working order.
- Aid in lab organization and sample management projects
As needed:
- Learn and run defined protocols for various 96-well and 384-well plate-based assays.
- Analyze results using in-house and client-developed templates.
- Discuss experimental design and results with colleagues.
- Maintain a lab notebook.
- Assist with preparing informal and formal protocols and reports.
- Other duties, as assigned.
