SUMMARY
The Grain Accountant position is responsible for inbound and outbound grain transactions, grain settlements, and any other administrative duties as assigned. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a customer-focused mindset.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Other duties may be assigned)
- Record and reconcile grain purchase and sales transactions, ensuring accurate and timely data entry in accounting systems.
- Maintain records of member/customer grain accounts, including balances, settlements, and payments.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly grain accounting reports.
- Generate invoices for grain sales and services, process payments, and address customer inquiries related to billing.
- Update outbound shipments to delivered status and creates freight payables.
- Work closely with the grain operations team to ensure accurate tracking of grain inventory, movement, and quality data.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or higher in accounting, business, or a related field is preferred.
- Exhibits proficient computer technology skills in accounting software and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Presents a clean and professional appearance.
- Provides excellent customer service; responds promptly to customer needs, resolves questions, complaints, and concerns immediately and meets commitments.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with customers, employees, and management.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintains a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the cooperative.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Primarily an office-based role with occasional visits to grain operations facilities, which may result in exposure to grain dust.
- This position requires long periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer as well occasionally standing or walking. Must be able to lift 10-20 pounds.
- Schedule is generally a 40 hour work week, extended hours may be required during peak seasons, such as harvest.
