Lumber Associate

Frontier Building Supply is hiring! This position is hybrid, with a focus of working in the lumber yard but also basic sales in the store.

Full-time, Monday through Friday, flexible schedule - hours of operation are 7am to 4pm.

Location: Friday Harbor, Washington

Primary Function of this Position:

This Lumber Associate hybrid position is responsible for operations in the lumber yard, loading/unloading, assisting customers with their project needs, forklift operating, and general sales in inside the store.

The ideal candidate is:

• An outgoing, achievement-oriented salesperson who is comfortable working in a hybrid role between the lumber yard and retail store.
• Looking for a challenge and the opportunity to grow sales and a strong customer base.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous forklift experience.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable by our company.
• Construction and lumber experience strongly desired.
• Proven computer knowledge strongly desired.

Responsibilities & Expectations

• Inspect forklifts for mechanical and safety issues.
• Build, stage and load all trucks according to daily schedules.
• Assist customer who are picking up orders. Verify all material and quantities are correct before allowing customer to leave.
• Prepare quotes, cash handling, invoicing, special ordering, inventory control.
• Ensure guest receives outstanding service.
• Utilize the company vehicle to purchase, pick up or deliver items for Store or customer.
• Maintain correct quantities of materials and ensure accurate records of inventory.
• Maintain company equipment, forklifts, and pallet jacks to ensure safe and efficient operation. Refer mechanical issues to Mechanic.
• Perform small maintenance duties within the facility.
• Keep shop yard and storage areas clear, clean, and organized.
• Other duties as required.
