JOB SUMMARY: The Human Resources (HR) Specialist functions as a “hands on” contributor to the HR processes and procedures, is familiar with company policies and procedures and adherence to all local, state and federal requirements, including but not limited to EEO, ERISA, ADA and FMLA, and is the primary contact for Human Resources Information System (HRIS). Works directly with the HR Assistant Director to refine systems and practices and manages daily workflow with excellent organizational skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Confidentiality is paramount in this position.
· Provides technical assistance to field personnel as required, such as explanations of policies, benefits, procedures, etc.
· Maintains employee classifications, including workers’ compensation, occupational codes and EEO.
· Maintains records, reports and logs to conform to EEO requirements and employee Continuing Education Units (CEU).
· Lead contact for MIP HR.
· Coordinate employee benefits, assisting in claims resolutions, processing invoices for payment, provide change reporting to vendors and support employee benefit and management of enrollment/updates/changes to insurance.
· Supports open enrollment for benefits, design and preparation of benefits materials and literature.
· Perform routine HR functions, utilizes and maintains HRIS and employee records.
· Present formal presentations, including General Orientation controversial topics or complex ideas.
· Work with HR Assistant Director to assist in personnel file initiation and implementation
· Assist department with recruitment/hiring processes.
· Work with HR Assistant Director to implement programs to enhance productivity and reduce liability through improved communications and HR practices.
· Work cooperatively with external and internal customers.
· Provide Front Desk coverage as needed.
ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES
· Maintaining well-organized and complete HR records
· May be required to work on the weekend or after hours to support events
· Assist clients with transportation as needed
· Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Personnel and Human Resources - Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
- Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as creating documents, forms, and other office procedures
- Administration and Management - Knowledge of business management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· H. S. diploma or equivalent
· Three to five years of human resources generalist experience.
· Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint and Excel.
· Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of current state and federal employment law and ability to interpret specific rules, laws and regulations.
· Demonstrate high energy, positive, enthusiastic, people oriented, organized, and attention to detail.
· Ability to use common office equipment, including desktop computer, copier, printer, fax machine, desk phone, cell phone, and 10-key calculator.
· Experience working with Human Resources Information System, MIP HR module preferred.
· Must be ethical and honest.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Work requires prolonged standing, walking, pulling, pushing, reaching and bending to perform duties.
· Work is performed in an office setting.
· Frequently is required to lift less than 20 pounds and occasionally may lift up to 50 pounds.
HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintain practices, means, methods, operation, or process, reasonably necessary or appropriate to provide a safe and healthy working environment.
· Maintain health and safety requirements in keeping with agency policy and procedures.
· Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Pay: $20.18 - $25.58 per hour
