Frontier Cooperative is seeking an Accounting Clerk at our Lincoln, NE location. This position is being offered as full-time with benefits.
Essential duties:
- Monitoring accounts payables to ensure payments are accurate and timely; reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
- Pays vendors while monitoring discount opportunities; verifying federal id numbers; checking invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies, resolves purchase order issues and ensuring credits are received.
- Investigates problems that vendors have with obtaining payment for bills.
- Researches and processes returns, refunds, freight charges, cost of lost or damaged goods, and similar items; audits freight bills against freight manifests.
- Pays employees by receiving and verifying employee expense reports.
- Maintains historical records by using imaging filing system.
- Promptly answers office phone calls for all divisions, pages on intercom system for requested individual or division; takes hand messages; forwards calls to voice mail or transfers calls to other appropriate individuals.

Job skills and requirements:
- This position must have knowledge, skills and abilities in organization, time management, accounting, data entry, general math, financial software, analyzing information, attention to detail, and verbal communication.
- Read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to vendors, customers and other employees.
- Perform basic math computations correctly. Such as; add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers. Able to determine discounts, interest, and percentages, ability to perform these operations using units of American money, and able to develop spreadsheets.
- Ability to operate safely and efficiently office equipment, such as; desktop computers, printers, photocopiers and scanners, phone and voice mail systems, postage machine; accounting, and energy software systems; Microsoft office, imaging and adobe products.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or electronic form.
- Resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Able to identify and find ways to help people and provide customer service.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and training.
