Position Overview :

The Chief Marketing Officer is responsible for the direction and management of the credit union’s marketing. The key focuses for position relate to directing, leading, developing and implementing product and program strategies to increase revenue and profit, expand member relationships, and increase market position. Develops and executes marketing programs, materials and delivery systems that promote member understanding and usage of Credit Union products and services. Ensures marketing team is trained and efficiently operating, contributing to organizational goals, and providing the highest level of member service. Plans and coordinates both short and long-term marketing strategy and achieves objectives within budget and agreed upon timelines.

Essential Functions :

  • As a member of the senior leadership team, provides visionary and collaborative leadership in all areas related to the credit union’s marketing functions.
  • Participates in strategic planning and assists with developing and implementing plans for marketing, service, and business operations to achieve the institution’s overall service and growth objectives.
  • Develops annual marketing plan, strategies, tactics and budget and goal setting; Executes on marketing plan through campaign development, product implementation, and manages to budget.
  • Provides marketing skills and expertise to the company by building, developing and leading a marketing team capable of carrying out the necessary marketing strategies and tactics; Performs ongoing mentoring and development of marketing team.
  • Establishes metrics (KPIs) for measurement of marketing program effectiveness. Creates system-wide marketing reporting function that tracks and measures performance. Analyzes and reports results.
  • Leads efforts and participates in product and service design to drive long-term growth of the organization.
  • Analyzes existing products in terms of ability to compete, gain market share, grow revenue and sustain or grow profitability.
  • Oversees internal marketing communications ensuring coordinated campaign rollout organizationally wide.
  • Responsible for overall quality, quantity, accuracy, timeliness and tracking of all marketing related activities.
  • Ensures all advertising and promotional activities are in compliance with State, Federal and other regulatory agencies’ laws and regulations and Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Works with advertising firms and other vendors when appropriate; Responsible for vendor and contract management.
  • Oversees competitor analysis and communicates relevant findings to senior managers.
  • Oversees the planning and coordination of corporate events and communications efforts to include public relations and community outreach.
  • Manages the design and production of the annual report and makes arrangements for the Annual Membership Meeting.
  • Works with marketing team to develop, write, publish and manage content for advertising and promotion materials, social media, emails, posters, flyers, commercials, etc.
  • Participates fully in professional societies and activities related to the financial industry in general and the marketing profession in particular.
  • Assists branches with targeted community involvement activities including business development seminars, community events, and special promotions.
  • Ensures branding standards are maintained throughout all credit union properties and events.
  • Works with marketing team to create and execute community affairs plan that aligns with EICU’s strategic initiatives and strengthens our brand awareness throughout our market.
  • Engages in ongoing, continuing education and proactive research to determine marketing best practices, uncover new methodologies / technologies, identify potential partnerships or vendors, and generate new promotional programs and ideas.
  • Creates, maintains and promotes a positive public image of Frontier Credit Union.
  • Consistently makes positive contributions to meet / exceed personal, team, and organizational goals and ensures team members do the same.
  • Provides exceptional internal and external member service.
  • Understands, applies, and complies with all Credit Union Policies and Procedures, State and Federal laws and regulations, and adheres to requirements set forth by the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Assists area personnel with related functions.
  • Completes other assigned duties commensurate with position.

Qualifications / Skills :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related fields. MBA preferred.
  • 10 years of progressive experience in marketing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven success in leading and scaling marketing efforts in a business environment.
  • Knowledge of the credit union industry and related product and service offerings, state and federal laws and regulations, and other credit union operational policies and procedures highly preferred.
  • Fluent technical ability as it pertains to creating marketing materials in all forms, maintaining social media platforms, use of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and desktop publishing programs, and software and other systems used to collect, interpret and analyze data.
  • Management and leadership experience required. Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects and the work of others, as well as develop, mentor and motivate team members.
  • Advanced research and analytical skills; ability to analyze market conditions and marketing data, read and interpret general business information and legal documentation.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with ability to apply common sense to carryout instructions and instruct others, train personnel, operate within designated parameters, write reports, correspondence and procedures, communicate clearly to members and employees.
  • Effective public speaking skills; excellent writing skills stressing composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Highly driven and able to think and act independently and within a team.
  • Ability to remain organized and work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Calmly and professionally handles different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization media, community leaders, and vendors.
  • Demonstrates highest levels of member service at all times.
  • Promotes and applies the highest professional and ethical standards, and fair treatment of others.
  • Reports to work regularly; Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule including occasional Saturdays, early mornings or late evenings; travel to outlying communities required and overtime as needed.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation for local travel and occasional driving between all Frontier branch locations; some overnight travel may apply.
  • Must successfully pass a credit / background check.
  • Physical Requirements :

    While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to stand, walk, and sit. Essential duties require ability to hear, see and speak (reasonable accommodations may apply), bend, sit / stand and move about to perform work. Physical exertion includes lifting (up to 50 pounds), pulling, pushing, climbing, stooping and kneeling. Operation of routine office equipment including computer terminals, keyboards, telephones, and copiers up to 8 hours per day may apply. Some locations may require ability to climb or descend stairs with minimal assistance in emergency situations.
