JOB TITLE Clinical Psychologist (Licensed)

SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing diagnostic and treatment services to individuals and their families who have or are suspected of having mental health, substance abuse or intellectual disability problems. Responsible for delivery of formal psychological and forensic evaluations and psychological supervision.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Graduate from a doctoral program in psychology and/or program approved by the American Psychological Association and completion of internship which has been approved by the American Psychological Association.

Licensure: Must possess or obtain licensure in Tennessee and Virginia.

Certification: N/A

Experience: Experience in mental health field preferred.

Knowledge/Skills: Verbal/written communication skills.

Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations.

EQUIPMENT:

Computer, fax, copier and any other equipment required to perform the functions of the position.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervision of MA Licensed Examiners and psychology students.

2. Supervision and delivery of formal psychological evaluations.

3. Conduct interviews with individuals and/or family members in a therapeutic manner so as to obtain critical and thorough information, provide written documentation of information obtained and exercise good judgment in evaluating situations, making decisions and implementing effective strategies.

4. Formulate an accurate DSM diagnosis based on information obtained.

5. Provide appropriate therapeutic interventions using a variety of counseling techniques and modalities including individual, collateral, group and/or family therapy.

6. Provide written documentation to complete all necessary chart work in accordance with agency policy on admissions, treatment and discharge in a timely manner.

7. Maintain confidentiality according to agency policies.

8. Provide information, referral and linkage with area resources and agencies.

9. Remain current in knowledge of community resources and how to access those resources.

10. Keep supervisors apprised of all critical or potential emergency situations.

11. Respond to emergency/crisis or walk-in situations calmly, rationally and in accordance with agency policy and procedures.

12. Provide consultation and education services to the community as requested by supervisor/administration.

13. Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-services and individual program planning staffings as needed.

14. All other duties as assigned.
