What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Records Specialist position at Frontier Home Health?
Job Summary: The primary responsibility of the Medical Record Specialist include scanning all legal and pertinent documents into the patient’s electronic medical record. The CDMRS is also responsible for creating a hard copy medical record on admission and the for the break down and filing of the record for future reference. The CDMRS also assist by distributing all patient’s clinical visit notes during the billing cycle.
Essential Functions of Medical Record Specialist:
Upon acceptance and authorization of the patient, the CDMRS scans all essential intake paperwork from the referring facility and presents the scanned chart to the Admission RN
The CDMRS scans all signed legal documents into the electronic medical record after the admission process
The CDMRS is responsible for scanning all orders and significant paperwork required by State, Federal and Accrediting into the appropriate patient’s chart and forward the information to the assigned Case Manager
Assess all daily OMR notes and contacts the appropriate clinical staff member for corrections as needed for billing purposes
Responsible for the distribution of daily OMR clinical documentation into the appropriate patient electronic medical record, notifies the clinical staff member for corrections
Process all discharged client files within the EMR, break down and file all discharged patient’s hard copy charts for retention of records according to State, Federal and Accrediting Agency regulations
Fax the Plan of Care (485) to the appropriate primary physician for signature
Assist clinical and office staff with education and changes within the Electronic Medical Record
Assists scheduling as needed during vacation time
Copies and assembles admission packets for Home Health and updates information as needed
Assists the supervisor without compromising assigned daily work

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
