Job Description
We are looking for a highly skilled Site Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of our data center. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in networking, electrical systems, and power grid management, along with hands-on experience in managing mining infrastructure. You will also have a strong sense of urgency, excellent at delegating tasks to others and scheduling multiple types of services according to the business’ operations budget.
Responsibilities
Networking & Infrastructure Management:
- Oversee the management of network architecture, IP addressing, subnetting, and troubleshooting of network issues.
- Utilize large-scale monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, SolarWinds) to ensure seamless network operations.
- Implement and manage security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Ensure efficient, secure management of both wired and wireless network infrastructure for miners.
- Lead out-of-band network management and ensure remote monitoring solutions are functioning.
- Plan and manage redundancy, failover configurations, and disaster recovery strategies.
Bitcoin Mining Operations:
- Supervise ASIC miner deployment, scaling, and maintenance (e.g., Antminer, Whatsminer).
- Optimize hash rates and ensure operational efficiency, balancing power consumption and hardware performance.
- Manage cooling solutions, including air, immersion, and water-cooling systems, to ensure operational stability.
- Implement power management strategies to minimize costs and maximize power efficiency.
- Oversee miner fleet management, performing routine preventative maintenance and troubleshooting failures.
Electrical Systems Oversight:
- Oversee power distribution systems, ensuring proper sizing and configuration of electrical panels, transformers, and circuits.
- Ensure compliance with NEC codes and manage breaker sizing, fault protection, and grounding.
- Manage energy monitoring, backup systems (UPS/generators), and emergency power systems for 24/7 uptime.
- Handle electrical fire prevention, including proper wire sizing and safety protocols.
- Lead high-voltage safety procedures, ensuring safe operation across 13.8kV to 34.5kV systems.
Power Grid & Energy Management:
- Coordinate with utilities for power purchase agreements (PPAs), grid load balancing, and demand response programs.
- Monitor grid conditions, ensuring site stability and compliance with curtailment strategies.
- Work with regional grid operators (ERCOT, PJM, etc.) to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize energy usage.
- Integrate renewable energy solutions (solar, wind, hydro) where applicable for cost and environmental efficiency.
Team & Operations Leadership:
- Supervise a team of technicians and staff, ensuring smooth daily operations and adherence to safety and efficiency standards.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure operational goals are met and issues are promptly resolved.
- Manage the physical infrastructure of the site, including server/rack management, cabling, and cooling systems.
Qualifications
- Strong technical knowledge of networking, Bitcoin mining, electrical systems, and power grid management.
- Hands-on experience with ASIC miners, including troubleshooting and performance optimization.
- Solid understanding of power distribution systems, load calculations, and high-voltage safety protocols.
- Experience in managing large-scale infrastructure and data centers, including server room and rack management.
- Ability to manage team operations, communicate effectively, and lead projects from planning to execution.
- Proven track record in managing safety standards, regulatory compliance, and energy management strategies.
- Ability to make strategic decisions related to cost management and operational efficiency.
