The mission of the Union #38 Schools’ Early Childhood program is to offer children the opportunity to play and learn in a fun and stimulating environment with other age-appropriate peers. The preschool program provides a quality, developmentally appropriate education for three and four-year-old children of all abilities. QUALIFICATIONS:
MA Administrator Certification
Master’s Degree in Early Childhood or related field
Experience working with young children
Experience with Special Education
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Director of Education- Elementary Focus
JOB GOAL:
Provide leadership in early childhood programs and services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Leadership
Coordinate preschool and kindergarten programs, including summer programs
Oversee preschool, kindergarten, and summer program enrollment
Collaborate with principals to hire, train, and evaluate early childhood personnel.
Work with the Director of Education - Elementary and Secondary Focus to align PK-12 curriculum and instructional practices.
Coordinate with elementary principals to ensure adequate access to instructional supplies and materials.
Provide leadership for early childhood programming to the administrative team.
Engage in state and national early childhood networking meetings.
Participate in professional development to stay current in the field.
Family and Community Outreach
Collaborate with CFCE programs
Lead Kindergarten Orientation (four sites)
Coordinate translation services for PreK and Kindergarten students/families during enrollment, as needed
Host workshops for caregivers
Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment
Lead curriculum development and professional development for early childhood programs.
Communicate curriculum, assessment, and instructional expectations to faculty, staff, and the school community.
Oversee district preschool, kindergarten, and community-based screenings, and communicate outcomes to stakeholders.
Coordinate data collection meetings; evaluate and guide the use of student achievement data to improve instructional effectiveness.
Early Intervention & Special Education
Facilitate early intervention referrals, transitions, and IEP development and services.
Support special education programming, including contracted services with external agencies.
Ensure compliance with state reporting requirements, such as social/emotional/behavioral milestones (Indicator 7) and timely evaluations (Indicator 12).
Budget oversight
Develop and manage preschool program budgets, including tuition, grants, and other funding sources.
Research, write, and oversee early childhood grants under the direction of the Director of Education - Elementary and Secondary Focus.
Other
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Education - Elementary Focus.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve month work year. Salary and work year to be established by the Union #38 School Committees.
Individual Employment Contract
Salary : $90,000 - $95,000
