RESIDENTIAL HELPER
Position Summary
Assist driver in providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely load waste by carrying bags and containers to the vehicle for disposal
- Assist driver in maneuvering the vehicle by directing driver from the ground
- Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver while servicing customers on a designated route.
- Operate packing mechanism and various levers and handles to activate the lifting and loading mechanism
- Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip; spray and clean the hopper and truck, if applicable
- Follow all safety standards and wears the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Attend and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings
- Reports any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
- Courteously interact with all customers, dispatchers and others on a daily basis to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner
- Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste
- Clean area around an accidental waste spill, ensuring adherence to all applicable safety standards and policies
- Maintain adherence to required productivity standards for the department to ensure all customers are serviced in a timely and efficient manner
- Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle, as well as the on the route and in the work area
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
- Minimum 6 months experience working in fast-paced environment
- Exposure to working in all-weather elements preferred
- High-energy individual with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work in a physical demanding setting
- Attention to detail and good time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
- Ability to use good judgment to carry out detailed instructions
- Must have reliable transportation (Good Attendance is a must)
- Must possess basic mathematical skills
- Basic computer knowledge preferred
- Required to use motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 75-100 pounds
- Normal setting for this job is outdoors and/or riding in a video/GPS monitored vehicle
- Will be exposed to a physical environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the workday
