Job Summary:
As a full-time Medical Assistant, you will be the first point of contact and play an essential role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment. The Medical Assistant receives patients at the time of visit and supports nurses, physicians, advanced practice clinicians, and other clinical staff in the delivery of health care to patients by performing a variety of medically related tasks to ensure smooth patient flow. Key responsibilities include reception duties, administrative and clerical support, and assistance with patient procedures. The assistant greets and identifies patients completes forms, prepares charts, maintains the office filing system, and updates electronic medical records as appropriate. Must use triage skills to make appropriate patient health assessments and to anticipate the Clinician's needs.
Essential Responsibilities
- Responsible for coordination of patient care and communications within the designated MD4You office.
- Perform intravenous (IV) insertions as a component of patient care responsibility.
- Interview patients and measure vital signs and other pertinent information as required by the department. Records information in patients' medical records.
- Performs medication review and reconciliation. Notes allergies and verifies medications the patient is currently using. Medications the patient has discontinued are recorded in visit notes.
- Gathers appropriate documents and signatures necessary to assist the Clinician in making treatment decisions.
- Receives and records lab/radiological test results (may include outside medical records) via telephone or computer and ensures that those results and related reports are with the patient's medical record at the time of the patient's visit.
- Relays Clinician instructions/orders to pharmacy (refills only without changes), patients, and other entities via computer, phone, fax, or mail.
Requirements
- BLS certification is required.
- CMA - Certified Medical Assistant or RMA - Registered Medical Assistant
- NPA-CPT - Certified Phlebotomist Tech (Preferred) – Prior Experience Acceptable
- Proficiency in taking vital signs and performing basic life support techniques.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for maintaining accurate records.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
