Construction Electrician

Summary

The position of Construction Electrician involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in commercial and residential construction settings. Tasks include reading plans, running wiring, installing electrical outlets and switches, ensuring safety compliance, and troubleshooting electrical systems. The electrician will also be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.

Tasks

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment according to plans, specifications, and local building codes.
  • Run electrical wiring and cables through walls, ceilings, and floors, ensuring proper connections and securing cables with appropriate supports.
  • Install electrical outlets, switches, circuit breakers, and lighting fixtures.
  • Ensure electrical systems are functioning correctly and troubleshoot issues such as electrical malfunctions or outages.
  • Read and interpret electrical plans and specifications to understand project requirements.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance to ensure electrical systems meet safety codes and are operating efficiently.
  • Work with other construction teams to ensure electrical work is integrated with other systems, such as HVAC, plumbing, and security.
  • Test electrical systems and components for continuity, voltage, and current.
  • Follow strict safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Use hand and power tools to perform tasks efficiently and safely.
  • Maintain and organize electrical equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Completion of an apprenticeship or technical training program in electrical work preferred.
  • Valid electrician’s license or certification in the relevant region (where required).
  • Knowledge of local and national electrical codes and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to work in a variety of environments, including confined spaces and at heights.
  • Good communication skills to work effectively with team members, contractors, and clients.
