Hi-Lite , a Frontline Road Safety Group company which is North America's largest Pavement Marking / Road Striping Company, has an immediate need for an experienced Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic in 2 locations, our Bradenton, FL location and our Watertown, NY location. This is an on-site position with hours than can vary based on needs of the business. The selected candidate for EITHER location must be open to traveling to our airfield locations throughout the U.S. when necessary.
Summary / Objective
The primary duties of a Senior heavy equipment / truck mechanic includes performing diagnostic tests on diesel / or gas vehicles to find faults, analyzing diagnostic test results and repairing or replacing engine, steering, transmission, braking or lighting system components.
Essential Functions

- Ability to diagnose and perform basic, intermediate, and advanced heavy equipment / truck maintenance and repairs.
- Engine tune-ups
- Test, inspect and work on hydraulics, valves, motors, hoses, cylinders, etc...
- Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems
- Use diagnostic tools to test vehicle components
- Analyze diagnostic test results to complete troubleshooting and repairs needed
- Ability to work on mechanical and electrical systems
- Replace various parts and components
- Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks.
- Ability to travel extensively for weeks at a time and repair equipment out of a mobile shop truck
- Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles.
- Conduct test drives on trucks
- Perform quality inspections prior to returning vehicles to the crew
- Communication with vehicle operators
- Welding / Fabricating skills
- Ability to train and foster other Jr mechanics to grow
- CDL A is a plus but not a requirement

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and / or move items over 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 00 p.m. with weekends and travel expected.
