The Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS), as part of the Children Who Witness Violence program (CWWV) provides acute trauma intervention services in the home and community, trauma screening, assessment, Child Family Traumatic Stress Intervention and Trauma Focused -Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as practical and emotional support to family members and witnesses of traumatic and/or violent events in the community. This staff will also be trained to assist the Defending Childhood Initiative staff in completing trauma-informed diagnostic screenings and assessments. CWWV staff also are trained and participate in community responses to schools and communities after a violent incident.
CWWV staff partner with law enforcement, hospitals, schools, the Department of Children and Family Services, as well as other community agencies throughout Cuyahoga County. These services are community based and include assisting families in planning for safety and in understanding the potential deleterious impact of the incident on children, coordination of/with other responders and systems, trauma informed diagnostic screening and assessments, linkage to other resources to navigate the criminal justice process, and assists with other needs that arise in the aftermath of an acute traumatic event ie housing, linkage to community services.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 10:00am – 6:30pm
This is a non-exempt, union position with a minimum-starting wage $36.05 per hour.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, with a minimum of one year professionally supervised work in the delivery of mental health, chemical dependency and/or social services.
- Individuals must have either an LSW, LISW, LPC or LPCC to be considered.
- Valid Ohio driver's license with good driving record and proof of insurance.
- Master’s degree strongly preferred.
