Director of Policy and Government Relations

We are seeking a Director of Policy and Government Relations to help drive policy initiatives that expand wildfire mitigation strategies, promote external wildfire sprinkler adoption, and shape rebuilding efforts in fire-prone regions. This role will be instrumental in influencing local, state, and national policies that create safer, more resilient communities.
Key Responsibilities :
Policy Development
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments related to wildfire mitigation, building codes, insurance requirements, and home defense solutions.
- Develop and advocate for policies that support the integration of wildfire sprinkler systems, defensible space mandates, and resilient rebuilding initiatives.
- Draft policy briefs, position papers, and testimony for legislative and regulatory proceedings.
Government & Code Development Engagement
Establish and maintain relationships with key government officials, fire safety regulators, insurance commissioners, and local planning agencies.Influence wildfire-related building codes and land-use policies to ensure communities rebuild with resilience in mind.Engage in post-wildfire rebuilding efforts, ensuring communities integrate proactive wildfire defense measures into new construction and retrofits.Strategic Planning
Develop and execute a comprehensive government relations strategy that aligns with Frontline’s mission and growth goals.Identify opportunities to integrate wildfire defense technologies into state and federal funding programs.Collaborate with fire agencies, insurance providers, and community organizations to advance wildfire protection measures.Stakeholder & Industry Engagement
Build and manage relationships with wildfire policy experts, homebuilders, environmental groups, and disaster recovery organizations.Represent Frontline in industry coalitions, conferences, and regulatory hearings.Work with insurance carriers to advocate for policies that incentivize homeowners to invest in wildfire protection technology.Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with all lobbying laws and regulations.Maintain records of lobbying activities and prepare required reports.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Law, Environmental Science, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).7-10 years of experience in government relations, public policy, or advocacy, preferably in wildfire mitigation, emergency management, or the built environment.Strong understanding of wildfire policy, building codes, and community wildfire resilience frameworks.Proven track record of successful policy advocacy at local, state, and federal levels.Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.Ability to analyze complex policy issues and develop strategic responses.Willingness to travel as needed for advocacy efforts and stakeholder meetings.Preferred Qualifications :
Established network within fire agencies, homebuilder associations, insurance providers, and environmental policy groups.Experience working on code development and land-use policy in wildfire-prone areas.Familiarity with California, Oregon, Washington, and other Western states' wildfire policies.What We Offer :

Salary : $130,000 - $160,000
