Who you are:
As an Engineer II - Database, you are our troubleshooter. You are responsible for administering, controlling, and optimizing the organization's database management systems such as Oracle, DB2, Microsoft SQL, and Postgres databases and for providing support those who consume them. You’ll use your strong problem-solving skills to ensure that the systems are performing optimally and meet our high standards. You believe in effective communication and will have the opportunity to address potential problems and solutions to complex issues. What you’ll do:
Provide day to day management of database environments that impact a single department, including patching, security administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, backing up, restoring, replicating, auditing, upgrading, and installing database environments
Design and implement complex database schemas and architectures to meet application requirements and business needs
Monitor and analyze database performance, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks
Maintain detailed technical documentation for database configurations, procedures, and architecture
Provide advanced technical support for database-related issues, including troubleshooting and resolving escalated problems
Work closely with application developers, data analysts, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of database systems with other components
Configure and set up disaster recovery environments
Configure and set up test environments

What you’ll need:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience
Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues across interrelated programs and systems and develop the appropriate solutions, typically requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience
Proven ability to apply engineering principals to effectively resolve moderately complex technical issues within Infrastructure and Operations
Demonstrated commitment to strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability in collaborative project environments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience in Microsoft Office applications
Additional Preferred Skills:
Relevant scripting or automation skills, such as _Ansible, Powershell, Terraform, Bash, Python, PHP, HTML, CSS, Java/Javascript
Relevant certifications, such as Oracle Associates/Professional, DataStax Administrator, EnterpriseDB Postgres
