Job Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented CAD Designer to assist with the technical drawings and renderings throughout our design and pre-production process. This role is responsible for producing detailed 2D and 3D drawings in Vectorworks and other CAD software to support scenic, staging, and technical design elements for large-scale live events and experiential environments.
This position plays a vital role in connecting the creative and production teams by translating concepts into build-ready plans, maintaining drawing standards, and ensuring accurate documentation throughout the lifecycle of each project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage detailed 2D and 3D Vectorworks drawings, including floor plans, elevations, rigging plots, scenic layouts, and lighting positions
- Interpret creative direction and production notes to create technical drawings that reflect scenic, staging, lighting, and AV requirements
- Work closely with the Department Heads, Account Executives, and Production Managers to ensure all design documentation supports creative goals and production feasibility
- Maintain drawing standards, templates, and file organization across projects to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Coordinate with venues, vendors, fabricators, and clients as needed to advance technical designs and integrate feedback
- Revise drawing sets throughout the project lifecycle as designs evolve or production logistics shift
- Assist in preparing presentation materials or drawing packages for clients and internal reviews
- Provide technical input and support during onsite execution when needed (Show stipend may apply)
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- High-level proficiency in Vectorworks (2D and 3D required); familiarity with AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Rhino is a plus
- 5 years of experience in scenic, staging, or event design for live events, theater, concerts, or brand experiences
- Strong understanding of event production elements including lighting, rigging, AV integration, and scenic fabrication
- Ability to read and create build-ready drawings and technical packages
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines and managing multiple active projects
- Familiarity with R2 or other rental tracking systems is a bonus
Bonus Skills:
- Experience producing renderings or visualizations (e.g., SketchUp, Blender, Cinema4D)
- Background in industrial design, architecture, or technical theater
- On-site experience working with fabrication or technical production teams
Experience:
- CAD design: 3 years (Required)
- CAD design software: 3 years (Preferred)

This position is classified as Exempt. Standard warehouse working hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Onsite working hours will often fall outside the standard 9 AM to 5 PM times. Overnight and extended shifts may be required based on Event Pre and Post-Production Schedules. Candidates should have flexibility with their work schedule as shifts working long, extended hours are often required during high-volume months.
