Coordinator of Upward Bound Math/Science
Frostburg State University’s Upward Bound Math/Science is funded by the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) to provide eligible high school students with the academic skills and support necessary to pursue a math or science career. To advance the Upward Bound Math/Science mission, Frostburg State University seeks a full-time exempt Coordinator of Upward Bound Math/Science. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Responsibilities: Assist in implementing the objectives of the Upward Bound Math/Science program (TRIO program for low-income/first-generation high school students). Organize, transport, and lead students in educational field trips, college visits, and student meetings. Act as an Academic Coach and Senior Counselor in the college and financial aid admission process. Assist in designing, planning, and instructing of the six-week summer program. Assist in student and staff recruitment. Assist in the selection, training, and supervision of UBMS contractual staff. Record and track student progress and program participation. Assist in the development of newsletters and other program publications.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. One to three years of experience working with students in an academic setting. Experience leading group presentations and/or class instruction. Ability to organize numerous projects/details. Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to drive a passenger van to transport students. Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in a STEM/Education fields of study. Research experience preferred. TRIO experience or experience with low-income/first-generation students is preferred.
