Frostburg State University seeks qualified applicants for a Principal Faculty member and Director of Research and Accreditation for our Physician Assistant program established in 2019. Available to begin Summer 2025, this is a full-time, 12-month tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position with both teaching and administrative responsibilities. The PA program is based in Hagerstown, Maryland at the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown (USMH).
Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications; University System of Maryland benefits package included. There is an option for the selected candidate to pursue clinical practice or doctoral scholarship one day per week with pay.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Program Assessment and Accreditation
1. Program Assessment and ARC-PA Self-Study Leadership
- Design and implement comprehensive data collection systems for ongoing program evaluation
- Coordinate stakeholder feedback through surveys, interviews, and focus groups
- Author and maintain self-study documentation for ARC-PA accreditation
- Track key performance indicators including PANCE scores, graduate employment, and clinical competencies
- Generate detailed analysis of program strengths and areas for improvement
- Develop, implement, and monitor action plans for addressing identified gaps
- Ensure continuous compliance with ARC-PA standards through systematic documentation
- Present assessment findings to program leadership and external reviewer
2. Program Evaluation Management
- Evaluate administrative resources, curriculum effectiveness, and graduate outcomes
- Monitor faculty effectiveness through multiple assessment methods
- Track progress toward program goals and mission fulfillment
- Assess clinical site and preceptor effectiveness
3. Quality Improvement
- Design assessment tools and analyze program data trends
- Identify areas needing improvement
- Develop and monitor corrective actions
- Provide analysis support for program leadership
Teaching and Student Support, Academic Service
1. Course Instruction
- Serve as course director for Population Health and Research and Evidence Based Medicine courses in the Didactic Year
- Teach additional courses in both didactic and clinical years as assigned
- Develop and maintain course content and assessments
- Coordinate with other faculty to ensure curriculum integration
- Provide remedial instruction when needed
2. Student Advising and Support
- Serve as faculty advisor for assigned PA students
- Provide regular academic counseling and career guidance
- Monitor student progress and professional development
- Assist students with academic and clinical phase transitions
- Identify and support at-risk students
- Participate in development of remediation plans
3. Admissions Process
- Review and evaluate candidate applications
- Conduct admission interviews
- Participate in candidate selection meetings
- Assist with development and revision of admission criteria
- Support recruitment activities
4. Faculty Collaboration
- Participate in curriculum design and implementation
- Review program mission and goals
- Assess program competencies
- Support student academic progress
5. Service
o Committee Service
- Serve on program committees (curriculum, student progress, assessment)
- Participate in departmental committees as assigned
- Serve on College of Education Health & Natural Sciences committees as delegated
- Contribute to university-wide committees and initiatives as assigned
- Engage in shared governance activities at all institutional levels
o Professional Engagement
- Represent program at professional meetings and conferences
- Maintain active involvement in professional organizations
- Participate in program and institutional assessment activities
- Support program recruitment and community outreach efforts
Professional Development/Clinical Practice
Choose ONE track:
1. Clinical Practice
- Maintain clinical practice one day per week
- Integrate clinical experience into teaching
2. Academic Development
- Pursue doctoral studies in relevant field
- Apply research to program assessment
Minimum Qualifications:
- PA/MD/DO or relevant doctoral degree from an accredited academic institution.
- Two or more years of full-time clinical experience as a PA, MD, DO.
- Three or more years of experience in healthcare education program assessment, accreditation, or research.
- Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Experience teaching graduate-level courses in research methodology, evidence-based medicine, and medical humanities topics.
- If a PA, current NCCPA certification.
- If a PA, eligibility for Maryland licensure.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctoral or post-doctoral training/experience in survey design, collection, and analysis.
- Willingness to dedicate 1 day per week to clinical practice or scholarship pursuits relevant to PA practice and education.
- Prior authorship experience with ARC-PA self-study reports or accreditation materials.
- Published research specifically focused on health professions education outcomes or program assessment.
- Demonstrated success in mentoring colleagues in research design, analysis and presentation.
- Leadership experience in educational program assessment or accreditation processes.
- Record of innovation in assessment methodology or educational research.
