Facilities and Maintenance Technician
Purpose:
The Facilities and Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting the Facilities and Maintenance Department with maintenance services at Fryeburg Academy. They should take pride in being a part of Fryeburg Academy by working to ensure our buildings and grounds are representative of our strong community and academic presence. The Facilities and Maintenance Technician reports to the Facilities and Maintenance Director and/or Assistant Director.
Specific duties fall among the following essential functions of the job:
- Support the maintenance department in keeping a safe and clean campus facility for our staff, students and community
- Possess a basic understanding of general building and/or grounds maintenance
- Drive students to appointments as necessary and assist in airport transportation on school breaks
- Snow Removal. Responsible for assisting in cleanup of school grounds during and after snow events.
- Ability to work in a group and/or independently to complete a project or task
- Attention to detail to ensure the task is completed accurately and in a timely manner
- React positively to change and have the ability to prioritize tasks
- Adhere to proper methods of lifting, moving, stacking tools equipment and materials
- Have the ability to lift at least 50 pounds
- Work in both indoor and outdoor settings in varying weather conditions
- May be required to stand, bend, kneel or crawl to access areas requiring repair or maintenance
- Occasional exposure to bodily fluids and chemicals. FA will provide training, equipment and protection necessary in these instances
- The ideal candidate will have have an interest in learning new things or ways of completing tasks
- Open to participating in training opportunities when they arise
- Other duties as needed or assigned
Additional Duties which you may be asked to be responsible for:
- Responsibilities may include plowing, shoveling, etc. Training on operation of plow vehicles will be provided if necessary. Occasionally this work will be outside of normally scheduled work hours.
- There may be times when you are asked or required to act as a driver either during or outside of your normal work hours
- Responsible for all shipping and receiving for the Facilities and Maintenance department
Qualifying Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 2 years experience in facilities maintenance preferred, but not required
- Existing knowledge or experience in carpentry, landscaping or transportation is a plus
- Must possess a valid Drivers License
- Bloodborne Pathogens Training required (FA will provide)
- All Fryeburg Academy employees are subject to Maine Dept. of Education Criminal History Record Check.
