What are the responsibilities and job description for the SPED Paraprofessional position at FS Group?
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional/Aide to join our team working for our partner school. You will play a crucial role in supporting teachers and students in the classroom.
Your main responsibility will be to assist with the implementation of instructional activities, provide one-on-one assistance to students, and ensure a positive and engaging learning environment.
You will work closely with the teaching staff to reinforce lesson content, manage classroom logistics, and contribute to the overall educational experience. In this role, you will be working in different areas of the school depending on the need.
Responsibilities:
- Observe school district rules, regulations, and policies
- Assist in the supervision of students throughout the school day
- Work individually with children, as needed
- Supervise and provide accommodations/modifications as appropriate for students as directed
- Promote and facilitate the qualities of courtesy, cooperation, and good manners through example
- Promote and facilitate safe and efficient practices and conditions for all students
- Report any potentially unsafe conditions or practices to the appropriate supervisor
- Appropriately utilize school equipment and supplies
- Keep appropriate and accurate records as directed
- Keep all student information confidential
- Foster teamwork and contribute to positive morale
- Perform such other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
- Pass background check
- Complete Sexual Misconduct / Abuse Disclosure
- Complete a Mantoux TB test (tuberculous test)
- New Jersey Praxis Exam or New Jersey Substitute Credential preferred but not required
- Ability to comply with written and/or oral instructions
- Prior related experience working with children
- Proficiency in maintaining classroom management and emotional control
